I decided to take the hike to the Wildlife Center about 3 miles away. I had three short bridges to go over and I will be honest and say that I almost didn’t make it over that third bridge – it was steep. None of them were high or long but they were all steep.
It was a nice little area with a park next to it (Ponce De Leon park). And it was VERY busy. The parking lot was over flowing and between the locals and the tourists there was a river of people using the boat ramp and the beach.
The wildlife center will be moving. I was told that developers have purchased the land and are asking them to leave. I guess they have found another piece of property, but still need to build a new center. I hope everything works out for them.
And back across the bridges I go…. well almost. I feared getting stuck on the island because I was having a hard time getting over that one bridge until someone offered to help me. Thank God for nice people is all I can say. No, I will not attempt to go over bridges like that again! I’ll park my bike and walk.
I was told that it is not usually this busy, but there was a seafood festival and something else going on that attracted a lot of out-of-towners for the weekend.
As much as I like this area, something says its not really the place for me to be. Houses are very expensive here and I haven’t seen a lot of undeveloped land either. I’m in no rush to settle down…. my theme song right now… “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for…”
Plus this one homeless guy doesn’t like me going down the one trail that goes through “his forest”. I can’t stay someplace I don’t feel safe and I don’t need trouble makers giving me a hard time.
I’ve decided to go over the big bridge to the other side of the river tomorrow. I’m not sure what I am going to find, but I’ve decided to go see if I can find the campgrounds over there.
Anyway, that’s all for now.
Today’s tidbit:
Optimism vs Pessimism
Optimism says don’t worry, everything will work out. Pessimism says give up before it gets worse.
