Back Into Georgia

What a beautiful sunset! It had been very overcast most of the day, but at the very end of the day the sun broke through the clouds long enough to say “I’m still here!” and then it disappeared behind the clouds once again.

It was what I call a Fall day. The day when winter starts to make the warmth of summer, but it doesn’t quite work.

I think the accident I had the other day broke a couple of spokes and my wheel was wobbling for a lot of the trip. When I get to a bike shop or another Walmart, I will get some more spokes. If its Walmart, I’ll just have to order them online and have them delivered.

I honestly did not like Allendale, it had a uncomfortable feel to the whole city. I ended up getting a hotel room for the second night I was there because the feeling was just too overwhelming. I don’t like spending money I don’t have, but I’d rather do that, then be up all night in fear for my safety.

The room was actually a lot nicer than I expected for only $45.

I left after coffee in the morning and headed down the road toward Sylvania, GA. I enjoyed the ride except for the HILLS! Lots and Lots and Lots of hills! Then I made it to the trail. Its an old highway that was turned into a trail and it runs along side the current highway.

I probably could have gone down the trail for the next mile, but opted not to. And I am glad I didn’t. When I got to the river, the trail ended and there was no working bridge to cross over.

On the other side of the bridge, I was back into Georgia.

I stopped at the Welcome center to pick up a map and any information I could on campgrounds.

Unfortunately the welcome center was closed that day and the next day. However, there had been a caravan of RV’s that passed me as I was crossing the bridge and they happened to be there. About 6 of them all together. They invited me to have a sandwich and chips then they headed home. They had been to the Santee Campground in SC. The one guy, Danny, said that if I go through Jesup on my way south that I could put my tent up there.

I headed off down the road again with about 15 miles to go. About halfway there, it looked like it was about to rain, so I stopped and covered everything, got my rain jacket and my umbrella….. then it decided not to rain, lol. It did rain a few miles down the road and after about an hour it started raining again.

It took me all day to get there, but I finally made it to Sylvania. The center of the city sits pretty much on top of a really big hill and everything else is all around. The only fast food was McDonalds, but there are a few restaurants in the area.

There is supposed to be a camping area a few miles outside the city so I will be looking into that before I head off tomorrow.

That’s all for now.

Today’s tidbit: Blessings come in many ways, some are small, some are large. It’s not the size of the blessing that matters, its the blessing itself. Enjoy them all and be thankful for what you are given.
